Jack St. Clair enters his ninth season as head coach of Villanova women's rowing this year. His leadership has helped the Wildcat lightweight women catapult to national prominence and earn numerous championship titles and recognition as a formidable force in the sport. St Clair's commitment to Villanova rowing extends beyond the women's team; he also coached the men's team for six successful seasons.

In 1998, the women's lightweight eight captured the gold at the Rowing National Championships, giving Villanova its first national rowing title. In the same year, the women's lightweight eight also finished first at the Head of the Schuylkill and Dad Vail Regatta.

In 1999, the women's lightweight eight won the Champion International Collegiate Regatta and Head of the Schuylkill. They took home the silver at the Rowing National Championships and bronze at the Head of the Charles, behind only the U.S. and Canadian National Teams. Villanova's first and second varsity eights won their respective events at the 1999 Dad Vail Regatta, while the novice eight was second in both the heavyweight and lightweight events.
